Straight answer
What Is Tesla Powershare and What Does Installation Cost?
Powershare lets a Cybertruck send up to 11.5 kW back into a Florida home during an outage. A Universal Wall Connector installed runs $1,800, assuming it lands within two feet of your main panel. The Powershare Gateway is quoted per project since it depends on which circuits you want backed up.

Cybertruck As a Backup Battery for Your Florida Home
Powershare is Tesla's bidirectional charging system that lets a Cybertruck send stored energy back out through a Wall Connector instead of only pulling it in. When Coastal Energy wires a home for Powershare Home Backup, an outage on the grid is detected automatically and the home switches to Cybertruck power within seconds, no manual transfer switch required.
For Florida homeowners who already drive a Cybertruck, this turns a vehicle you were buying anyway into a rolling battery that is often larger than a stationary Powerwall. It is not a replacement for solar, since the truck still needs to be charged from somewhere, but paired with a home array it gives you an extra buffer during a multi day storm outage.

Two installation paths
Powershare with or Without a Powerwall
What hardware you need depends on whether you already have battery storage at the house.
No Existing Powerwall
We install a Universal Wall Connector and a Tesla Powershare Gateway. When an outage hits, the home draws directly from the Cybertruck's battery, backing up the circuits wired to the Gateway.
Existing Powerwall 2, Powerwall+ or Powerwall 3
No additional Powershare hardware is required. The home switches to Powerwall instantly on outage detection, and Cybertruck power extends the runway once the Powerwall draws down.
Optional Tesla Backup Switch
Where available in our service area, a Backup Switch can replace some of the Gateway wiring for a faster, lower cost install on the right electrical panel layout.
Process
How a Coastal Energy Powershare Install Runs
01
Panel and Load Assessment
Our electricians, licensed under EC13013993, review your main panel, service size and which circuits you want backed up.
02
Permit and Utility Paperwork
We pull the local electrical permit and file any interconnection paperwork your utility requires for backup equipment.
03
Gateway and Wall Connector Install
Typically a one day job for a straightforward panel. Homes needing a service upgrade or subpanel take longer.
04
Commissioning and App Setup
We test outage detection, confirm transfer time and walk you through monitoring backup status in the Tesla app.
Florida context
Why Powershare Matters During Hurricane Season
Southwest Florida sees multi day outages after major storms more often than most of the country. A Cybertruck with Powershare gives homeowners a genuinely large reserve, since the truck's pack dwarfs a typical home battery, but it only helps if the Gateway and Wall Connector are wired correctly and the transfer equipment passes county inspection.
We pull electrical permits in Lee, Collier and Miami-Dade counties regularly and know each building department's inspection checklist for backup power equipment, which keeps projects from stalling at final inspection.
