What we do

Full Solar and Battery Repair Capabilities

Repairs, maintenance, monitoring, cleaning and roof work under one roofing and electrical license, so you are not coordinating three different companies after a storm.

Solar Panel Repair and Cleaning

Shading analysis, cracked panels, wiring faults and professional cleaning. Florida pollen, salt air and bird droppings quietly cut production if panels never get cleaned.

Inverter Repair and Replacement

We service string and microinverters from Enphase, SolarEdge, Sol-Ark, SunnyBoy, SunPower and Tesla, regardless of who installed the system.

Battery Storage Service

Health checks, capacity testing and support for Tesla Powerwall and other battery brands, including degraded performance and backup configuration issues.

System Monitoring and Optimization

We restore app access, fix communication errors between the gateway and your Wi-Fi, and tune the system for full production.

Roof and Structural Work

Leak repairs, racking fixes and detach and reinstall service for a roof replacement. As a licensed roofing contractor (CCC1335978) we handle both trades on one ticket.

Pre and Post Storm Inspections

Documented inspections before and after named storms, with photos for insurance if attachment hardware or roofing takes damage.

Solar repair, in depth

What a Solar Repair Call Actually Covers

Most production complaints trace back to one of the issues below. We diagnose down to the root cause before quoting a fix.

Production Drop Diagnosis

We compare your monitoring history against expected output for your array size and location to isolate whether the drop is shading, soiling, a hardware fault, or a single failed string or microinverter.

String and Microinverter Faults

String inverter fault codes, ground faults and DC arc warnings on SolarEdge and Sol-Ark systems, plus dropped or reporting-zero microinverters on Enphase systems, isolated panel by panel.

Enphase and Tesla Inverter Replacement

Warranty and out of warranty replacement of Enphase microinverters and Envoy or IQ Gateway hardware, and Tesla string inverter and Backup Gateway replacement, with re-commissioning and monitoring verification after the swap.

Rapid Shutdown and RSD Device Failures

A failed rapid shutdown transmitter or receiver will shut a string down entirely or trip a fault at the inverter. We test and replace RSD devices to keep the system code compliant and producing.

Roof Leak Repair Around Mounts and Flashings

Leaks almost always originate at a lag bolt, flashing or mounting foot, not the panel itself. We pull the affected panels, correct the penetration and flashing, and reinstall and retest before closing the ticket.

Panel Replacement and Mismatched Module Sourcing

We source replacement panels that match your existing array's electrical characteristics as closely as possible. When your exact model is discontinued, we identify a compatible substitute so voltage and current stay in range for the rest of the string.

Squirrel and Critter Guards

Critter damage to wiring and backsheets under the array is common in tree-adjacent installs. We install mesh guarding around the array perimeter and repair any chewed wiring or conduit we find underneath.

Wiring and Conduit Damage

UV-degraded conduit, chewed or pinched wiring, and corroded connectors on rooftop and attic runs, tested and replaced to code.

Monitoring and Gateway Connectivity

Envoy, IQ Gateway and Tesla Gateway devices that have lost Wi-Fi or cellular connection, stopped reporting production, or need a factory reset and re-pairing to your home network.

Hurricane Damage Inspections and Insurance Documentation

Post-storm inspections of racking, flashing and wiring with dated photos formatted for a homeowner's insurance claim, whether or not we installed the original system.

System Takeover from Installers Who Left Florida

If your installer closed, moved out of state, or stopped answering calls, we take over service on your existing system through the Coastal Orphan Solar and Battery Program below.

Permit and Inspection Cleanup

We pull corrective permits and coordinate re-inspection for systems that were never properly closed out, missed final inspection, or have paperwork that does not match what is actually installed on the roof.

Panel Removal and Reinstall for Reroof

Full detach of the array before a roof replacement and reinstall and retest once the new roof is complete, coordinated directly with your roofing crew or done by our own roofing team.

Battery Diagnostics and Repair by Issue

Battery problems are usually a firmware, breaker or metering issue rather than a dead cell. Here is how we work through them.

IssueWhat we checkTypical fix
Tesla Powerwall 1, 2 and 3 diagnosticsBattery and Gateway fault logs, cell balancing, charge and discharge behaviorFirmware update, component replacement, or full unit swap under warranty
Gateway diagnosticsBackup Gateway connectivity, app pairing, grid transfer switchingReset and re-pair, wiring correction, or Gateway replacement
Firmware and commissioning issuesSoftware version mismatches between Powerwall and Gateway after an update or installManual firmware push and full re-commissioning with Tesla support
Backup breaker and load management errorsBacked up circuit assignments, breaker load calculations against Powerwall output limitsReassign circuits or correct load management settings so backup does not overload
Enphase and other battery brandsIQ Battery state of charge, communication with the IQ Gateway, cell healthFirmware refresh, module replacement, or brand-specific vendor escalation
Expansion additionsExisting system capacity and wiring before adding a battery unitAdd and commission an expansion unit to an existing solar or battery system

Why systems underperform

Common Reasons a Florida Solar System Loses Production

Dirty panels are the most common cause we find in coastal counties. Pollen season, salt air near Naples and Miami, and bird droppings can cut output well before a homeowner notices the drop on a bill.

Shading from tree growth is the second most common issue, especially five to ten years after installation when landscaping has matured past the original design. Inverter and microinverter faults account for most of the rest, along with normal panel degradation of roughly 0.5% per year.

If your monitoring app has gone dark, it is almost always a Wi-Fi connectivity issue between your router and the inverter's gateway or Envoy device, not a problem with the panels themselves.

Roof and mount repair

Leak Repair Around Solar Mounts, Done by a Licensed Roofer

Most solar-related roof leaks come from the flashing and lag bolt at each mounting foot, not from the panels themselves. Sealant applied over a bad flashing detail will fail again within a season or two in Florida's rain and heat.

Because Coastal Energy holds its own roofing license (CCC1335978), we pull the affected panels, correct the flashing and penetration properly, and reinstall and retest the array on the same ticket instead of sending you to a separate roofing contractor.

  • Flashing and mounting foot inspection at every penetration
  • Panel detach, roof correction, reinstall and retest on one visit
  • Documented before and after photos for your records

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Offer Solar Panel Repair Near Me?

Yes. Solar panel repair near me requests across our Florida service area are handled by our own technicians, including systems another company installed.

Can You Handle Solar Inverter Repair?

Solar inverter repair is one of our most common calls. We diagnose string and microinverter faults, process manufacturer warranty claims and replace failed units.

What brands of inverters and batteries do you repair?

Enphase and Tesla string and microinverters, plus SolarEdge, Sol-Ark and SunnyBoy inverters, and Tesla Powerwall 1, 2 and 3, Enphase IQ Battery, and most other major battery brands.

How fast can you respond to a service call?

Standard scheduling in our home service area around Fort Myers, Naples and Cape Coral is typically fastest. Coastal Care Plan members and VIP tier members get priority scheduling ahead of non-members, which matters most right before and after a named storm.

Can you fix a roof leak near my solar panels?

Yes. As a licensed roofing contractor (CCC1335978), we detach the affected panels, correct the flashing or mounting foot causing the leak, then reinstall and retest the array on the same visit.

What does the diagnostic call actually include?

For single story homes, the diagnostic visit starts at $350 and includes the truck roll, travel within 30 miles of our Fort Myers office, a visual inspection, basic troubleshooting and the first 30 minutes on site. Any repair beyond that is quoted after diagnosis.

Can you add a battery to my existing solar system?

Yes, we handle expansion additions to existing solar-only systems and add capacity to existing battery installations, with full commissioning and load management setup afterward.

Which areas of Florida do you service?

We cover Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota and surrounding areas. Call (239) 299-8567 if you are not sure your area is covered.

What Does Your Solar Panel Maintenance Service Cover?

Our solar panel maintenance service covers production verification, monitoring setup, connection and rail inspection, module cleaning guidance and roof penetration checks.

Do you service solar systems Coastal Energy did not install?

Yes. We service all brands and all systems regardless of who installed them, including Enphase, SolarEdge, Sol-Ark, SunnyBoy, SunPower and Tesla systems left behind by installers who closed or stopped responding.

What is the Orphan Program?

A flat fee evaluation for homeowners whose system has no support, usually because the original installer went out of business or left Florida. It starts at $500 for solar only or $750 with batteries, and includes a written correction protocol with itemized costs.

Do you repair systems that are out of the manufacturer's warranty?

Yes. Out of warranty repairs are diagnosed the same way as in-warranty ones. The difference is that parts and labor for an out of warranty replacement are billed rather than covered by the manufacturer, and we quote that after diagnosis.

Will you document damage for an insurance claim?

Yes. Pre and post storm inspections come with dated photos of racking, flashing and wiring formatted for a homeowner's insurance claim, whether or not we installed the original system.

Why isn't my system showing up on the monitoring app?

Almost always a Wi-Fi issue between your home internet and the inverter's gateway or Envoy device. Confirm your home internet is working first, then contact us for remote or on-site diagnosis.

What happens during a detach and reinstall for a roof replacement?

We remove all panels, coordinate scheduling with your roofing crew, then reinstall and retest the full system once the new roof is complete. Because we hold our own roofing license, one company handles both trades.
