Straight answer

Which Home Battery Is Best for a Florida House?

For most Florida homes we install Tesla Powerwall 3 at $15,000 because the inverter is built in and one unit backs up a normal load center. FranklinWH suits homes keeping an existing solar inverter, FoxESS and EcoFlow suit tighter budgets, and Enphase suits microinverter systems.

Every row below is a system we install and service ourselves, under Florida electrical license EC13013993. Where a price is not listed, the equipment is quoted per project because the cost depends on your existing inverter and panel.

How to choose

Start from What You Want to Keep Running

Battery sizing in Florida is a runtime question, not a brand question. A single battery running an efficient air handler, refrigerator, well pump, internet and lighting will carry most homes through an overnight outage and recharge from solar the next day. Adding central air on a large house, a pool pump, or a second refrigerator is usually what pushes a design from one unit to two.

The second question is your existing equipment. If you already have a working string inverter and only want backup, FranklinWH avoids replacing hardware that is still under warranty. If your array uses Enphase microinverters, the Enphase 10C keeps monitoring and warranty inside one ecosystem. If you are starting from nothing, Powerwall 3 usually wins on installed cost per usable kilowatt hour because it replaces the inverter too.

Florida specifics

What Matters in Florida That Spec Sheets Ignore

Heat Derating

Garage and west wall installs run hot. We site batteries where ambient temperature stays lower so capacity does not fade in August.

Wind Load on the Mount

Batteries mounted outdoors need attachment detail that satisfies your county's wind speed requirement, which runs from 140 to 180 mph across our service areas.

Utility Interconnection

FPL, LCEC, Duke, TECO, OUC and the Keys co-ops each treat storage differently on the application. We file it and track approval.

Storm Season Timing

Permit and inspection queues stretch in June and July. Deciding in the spring is the difference between having backup for a storm and waiting through it.

Warranty Ownership

We hold both the roofing and electrical licenses, so a roof penetration issue and a battery issue are the same phone call.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Best Home Battery for a Florida House?

The best home battery for Florida house conditions is the one sized to your AC load with a recharge path from solar. Powerwall 3 leads on integration, FranklinWH on whole home capacity, Enphase and EcoFlow on modular expansion.

How long will one battery run my house during an outage?

One battery typically carries an efficient Florida home overnight on essential loads: refrigeration, air handler, well pump, internet and lighting. Running central air, a pool pump and a second refrigerator through a multi day outage generally calls for two units.

Is Powerwall 3 better than Powerwall 2?

Powerwall 3 integrates the solar inverter into the battery, which reduces equipment count and installed cost on new systems. Powerwall 2 is a battery only unit, so Powerwall 3 is the current choice for new installs.

Are there still tax credits for home batteries in Florida?

The federal residential tax credit has expired, so residential pricing on this page is the real number with no credit math behind it. Commercial storage may still qualify for the ITC and depreciation.

Who services the battery after installation?

We do. Our own crews install and service every platform on this page, and the Coastal Care Plan adds annual inspection and monitoring for battery systems at $700 per year.

How much does a home battery cost installed in Florida?

A single Tesla Powerwall 3 is $15,000 installed. A Powerwall 3 with an expansion pack is $25,000, two units are $29,000, and an expansion pack added later is $9,500. FranklinWH, FoxESS, Enphase and EcoFlow systems are quoted per project.

Do I need solar to install a battery?

No. A battery can be installed on its own and charged from the grid before a storm. Pairing it with solar is what lets it recharge during a multi day outage instead of draining once.

Which battery works with my existing solar system?

FranklinWH is the usual answer for a working string inverter you want to keep, and Enphase 10C for an existing Enphase microinverter array. We confirm compatibility from your inverter model and monitoring data before quoting.

How many batteries can I add later?

Powerwall 3 accepts expansion packs at $9,500 each, and FoxESS and EcoFlow stack in modules. We size the disconnect and conductors at the first install so a later addition does not mean redoing the electrical work.
